FRESH, GROOVY, MIGHTY - AQUILES PRIESTER!

Ian Craft, organizer of Drummer Live, said that Aquiles Priester’s performance this year brought the audience to its feet. Aquiles’ appearance at Drummer Live is part of MAPEX’s ongoing promotion of Aquiles Priester as a MAPEX international clinician. Some may call him a “local Portnoy,” but the crowds reaction to Aquiles shows how his drumming is definitely recognized by percussionists and drummers outside Latin America.

Aquiles could be the most hard working heavy mental drummer. He is constantly practicing, touring with Angra and continuously promoting drum education thru clinics. He also finds time for teaching and one of the best drummers under 18, Eloy Lopes, is student of Aquiles.

Many outsiders to Heavy Metal liken heavy mental drummers  to extreme game athletes, where it is all about speed, power and precision. What makes Aquiles so impressive is his incredible sense of groove and his great patterns. In order to share his knowledge and how he has developed his own style, MAPEX has been sponsoring clinics with  Aquiles internationally. Audience response from around the world has been enthusiastic and exactly what we expected.
