MAPEX AND DOM FAMULARO HELP CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF DRUM HEADQUARTERS
Mapex recently co-sponsored a huge weekend of events in celebration
of Drum Headquarters 25th Anniversary. Mapex representatives were on-hand in
full force to participate in the festivities. “Drum Headquarters stands
as a benchmark for building a retail music business,” commented Mapex
Vice President and General Manager Joe Vasko. “The company has rooted
its philosophy in superior customer service and drummer education. That has
proven to be a successful recipe for a quarter of a century.”
The celebration included a clinic and performance by Mapex Education
Director Dom Famularo. Earlier this year, Famularo was voted “Clinician
of the Year” by the readers of both DRUM! and Modern Drummer magazines.
As usual, Famularo both thrilled and educated the over 300 attendees in his
enthusiastic, over-the-top style.
“Dom Famularo is a master clinician,” said Jim Uding,
owner of Drum Headquarters. “From parent to pro, the message he delivers
on the kit and at the mic reaches everyone in the room. Drummers leave a Dom
Famularo clinic feeling great about themselves, their instrument and their
ability.”
Uding adds, “Dom's message helps parents realize that if
they support their child's interest in drums, the drum set in their basement
will produce much more than noise.”
In 2005, Jim Uding took over the reigns of Drum Headquarters
from its founder, Rob Birenbaum. Uding had worked for the company since 1983.
At the age of 18, he remembers his first responsibilities were centered primarily
on clean-up duties. Now as the company’s owner, he is eagerly anticipating
the next 25 years of business.
Drum Headquarters has also become one of the nation’s fastest
growing Mapex dealers and has recently achieved “Destination Mapex” Dealer
status. Mapex National Sales Manager, Scott Sasser says, “The rise in
growth between Drum Headquarters and Mapex has been nothing short of meteoric.
They have had enormous success with several product lines, most significantly
the Saturn, Pro M and M Birch Series.”
In addition to the celebration, Drum Headquarters received an
in-depth refresher course covering the details of the Mapex product line. “The
better our staff understands the product, the more prepared we are to assist
our customers,” said Uding, who summed it up best by adding, “Look
out for Mapex, they've got the people, the products and the price.”
That appears to be the ideal recipe for success for the next
25 years.
