MAPEX INTRODUCES NEW QR SERIES

In order to provide entry level students with more options to their first kit, Mapex has announced the new QR series. The drum shells are constructed  9-ply, 7.2 basswood shells with low density.  

Additionally, the unique Mapex Isolated Tom System (ITS) has been added to the series. The Mapex ITS eliminates direct contact between the tom mount and the drum, allowing the shell to vibrate more freely and, therefore, resonate more naturally. The ITS is also found in higher Mapex lines such as the M Birch, Pro M, Saturn and Orion.

The QR Series is available in three five-piece configurations. The Standard configuration (VX5254TA) comes with a 22 x 16 bass drum, 12 x 9 and 13 x 10 tom toms, 16 x 16 floor tom, and 14 x 5.5 snare drum. The Fusionease configuration includes a 22 x 16 bass drum, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9 tom toms, 14 x 14 floor tom and 14 x 5.5 snare drum. Lastly, Mapex offers a Voyager configuration that comes with a 18 x16 bass, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9 tom toms, 14 x 14 floor tom and 14 x 5.5 snare drum.

All VX kits include the Mapex 300-series hardware pack which has a tom holder, snare stand, boom cymbal stand, hi-hat stand, bass drum pedal and padded throne. In addition to these competitive features in this price point, the Eye-catching Retro Style wrapped finishes provide the entry level student with more options for the look of their drum set. The 3 wrapped finishes are: Angel Wing(AS), Crimson Swirl (CW) and Onyx Sparkle (XS).

To help consumers assemble the kit, QR Series also comes with a newly released DVD featuring Mapex artist, clinician and educational director, Dom Famularo. The DVD is a step-by-step assembly guide of the drum set and also includes tuning instructions and a few basic lessons hosted by Famularo.
