Christopher was born in Lima Peru on January 12 of 1976.
His interest in music began when he was 5 years old, when he went
to Disney World and heard the “It’s a Small World” song
and came back to his house piano and started playing it. That’s
the way it all started!!!
He start playing piano at the age of
5 then he learn
to play guitar and Peruvian Cajon, but he always wanted to play
drums. His father was a drummer in the 60´s. He started
playing drums at the age of 15. Chris took private lessons with
a lot of teachers and studied music at the Music School and also
studied Business Management
on
the University of Lima.
Chris started to play with many bands and
solo artists to learn as much as possible about different styles
and different approaches. The music of the people he was playing
with helped
him
to see the drums through other eyes.
Chris loves progressive rock
(Rush, Dream Theater, etc) and he thinks it gives a different perspective
to play pop rock music. He is actually
in a pop rock band called TK
that has 2 CD´s. They also
won 2 MTV Music Awards for Latin-America in 2003 and 2004 in the
category Best New Artist Centra.
His favorite drummers
are: Neil
Peart, Mike Portnoy, Carter Beauford, Alex Acuña, Tomas Lang,
Gregg Bissonette and Dom Famularo.
Chris uses Mapex Drums, Sabian Cymbals
and ProMark Drumsticks. |
